 | Motorboating |
Pleasure boating (with or without a motor) is allowed in principle without a permit on the Moselle. There is a speed limit of 30 km/h.
This speed limit doesn't concern: - small craft (all must bear an identification mark) pulling one or more water-skiers
- small craft as long as the water stretch in view is free from any user. In this case the speed is limited to 60 km/h.
But they have to reduce speed close to swimmers, campings and localities in order to avoid the risk of hurting people in and on the water.
They also have to avoid hindering other boats and are not allowed coming and going. To pass weirs, small craft whose dimensions are smaller than those of the lock (18 m long x 3,3 m wide and 1,5 m draught) must use it, unless told otherwise by the lock-keeper (observe the signs for entering the lock). Automatic locks, located between the barge locks and the weir, can only be used during daytime, and must be operated by the users themselves (use is free).
Schwebsange
For launching boats, ramps are available at Schwebsange, Bech-Kleinmacher, Ehnen and Grevenmacher.
