Touristic train 'Pétrusse Express'


Runs daily from 26th March to 31st October from 10 AM to 6 PM (every thirty minutes).

Since 1987 tourists as well as the Luxembourgish are happy to see the sightseeing train ´Petrusse Express´. This sightseeing train leaves from Place de la Constitution in the city center. The tour takes approximately 1 hour.

Through head phones you get a unique picture of the history of this little Grand-Duchy in 6 languages and the journey through the past rides you through the little streets - full of corners.

Maiden flights and excursions by plane from Luxembourg airport

Gliding is possible in the Grand-Duchy on weekends and public holidays from the beginning of May and the end of October. The gliding airfield “Op der Hoh” and the flying school of the “Cercle Luxembourgeois de Vol à Voile” are located near Useldange, north-west from the capital.

The gliders are winched up. Only gliders and motorised gliders are allowed (no aircraft).

Maiden flights in balloons


You can have a birds eye view of Luxembourg at the same time as gliding quietly through the air. Weather permitting, there are daily balloon flights across the countryside. This experience includes a champagne toast and a certificate to prove that you completed your inaugural flight.

In spring and summer, flights are in the early morning or in the evening, while in autumn and winter, depending on the weather conditions, they may take place at any time of day, as well as on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The flight must be booked at least the day before.

Swimming pool - National Sports and Culture Centre d'Coque


Recognisable thanks to its unusual architecture, the Coque Aquatic Centre (www.coque.lu) in Luxembourg-Kirchberg has no fewer than twenty different pools (one of which is Olympic sized). From Good Friday to October 31 daily at 12 AM (in German and French) and at 2 PM (in German and English). From November 1 to Maundy Thursday on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 1 PM (in German, French and English).

In the company of an experienced guide, you will enjoy walking around the city for about two hours and discover a host of specific attractions: Place d’Armes, Constitution Square, Government District, Corniche, Monument of the Millenium, Old Town, Palace of the Grand Dukes (outside), Place Guillaume II.

The evening stroller through the Old Town tends to be impressed by the fabulous illumination of the former fortress works.

"Wenzel" walk

'Wenzel' walk (cultural and nature trail)

This trail provides information about the various aspects of the natural environment and the man-made environment in the city of Luxembourg (fortress, old town and the parts of the town outside the walls). It describes the landscape and the biotopes present, and also deals with subjects like market gardening and urbanisation. This route is identical to the Wenzel cultural route, which received the Henry Ford prize for conservation of nature and heritage in Europe in 1996.

"City Labo"


Departure at the Luxembourg City Tourist Office. Duration: 2 h.

This is a new circuit especially designed for young explorers and scientists! It covers seven locations with scientific experiments to do, helping children to learn whilst having fun, how natural and historical conditions have shaped the face of the city. At the end each participant earns the right to bear the title of "official" city scientist.
