As a centre of commerce in the Greater Region, Luxembourg occupies an extraordinary position, given the very varied choice of brands and products on offer. The shops in town are opened on Mondays from 2 p.m.to 6 p.m. and during the rest of the week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Weekly markets in the City of Luxembourg, Esch-sur-Alzette and neighbouring centres are a ritual for many citizens. There are numerous monthly markets throughout the country. Going to the market gives you the opportunity to meet regulars, to relax over a cup of coffee, a glass or why not lunch together.

The main department stores are in Luxembourg-City Esch-sur-Alzette, Ettelbruck, Diekirch and Echternach. There are other department stores on the outskirts of the capital, on Belval university campus, in Weiswampach, in Pommerloch and in Mersch, and shopping malls. Nomatter if you are looking for huge department stores, shops, markets or fairs, Luxembourg has got it all.
