'Octave'

An annual pilgrimage in honour of Our Lady of Luxembourg. Since 1628, catholics from the Grand Duchy and neighbouring regions come to venerate the 'Comforter of the Afflicted'.

A typical 'Octave market' is held on the square in front of the cathedral, with food and souvenir stalls.

Close ceremony of the 'Octave': solemn procession in which members of the Grand Ducal Royal Family and foreign catholic dignitaries take part.
